Technology driven feedback for more informed decisions

With real-time approach speeds, Air Intelligence® provides critical information riders can use from takeoff to landing.

Our deep dive into trajectory physics

The Challenge

Terrain park enthusiasts are statistically dominated by younger men under the age of 25 (Gen Z). Many are still developing their skills, and a large portion have limited or no experience. As a result, they often attempt features that exceed their ability. Most do not fully understand the interplay of speed, pop, takeoff angle, trajectory, and other factors that determine a controlled landing. Yet, they still attempt these jumps, increasing the possibility of personal injury.

Pop Speed Scatter Plot
948 individual jumps across 13 days. Active leap (pop) above the 0 axis vs. absorption (buckle) below it. All participants bound within a confined range measured in meters per second of +/- 2.2.

Lidar captured data (x’s) of an individual who changed their takeoff angle by 10 degrees through active leap (pop) to achieve this trajectory, (red line) compared to a static 0 pop (blue line)

The solution

Precision Approach helps riders make more informed decisions before every jump. Using LiDAR sensors and real-time visual feedback, our system measures approach speed, removes snow friction guesswork, and alerts riders when they’re outside a reasonably appropriate speed window. The result: more confidence and additional guidance to your decision making process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything parents need to know about rider safety

What is Precision Approach?

Precision Approach is a hi-tech, LiDAR-based company that provides real-time speed awareness through its AIR INTELLIGENCE® system and visual signals to help riders make better decisions on terrain park jumps.

How does it work?

Our system uses LiDAR sensors to measure a rider’s speed and distance as they approach a jump. Colored LED lights display real-time feedback—white means correct speed, yellow means adjust, and red means abort.

Why is this technology needed?

Terrain park injuries often result from overshooting or undershooting landings. Precision Approach helps by improving rider awareness and jump consistency.

Can I see my jump data or videos?

Yes. Riders can access their videos through the Precision Approach app.

Is my data private?

All performance and video data are securely encrypted and used exclusively to enhance safety protocols, support data-driven terrain park improvements, and provide valuable feedback for both resorts and riders.

How is data collected and stored?

Data from LiDAR sensors and onboard cameras is encrypted and stored securely. Only authorized resort staff and Precision Approach analysts can access it.

What do you do with the data?

We analyze it to improve jump calibration, rider education, and terrain park design. Resorts can use these insights to make data-driven improvements.
